Lately I have not had the time or space to work on a few projects I would have liked to work on. So today I am sharing just a short list of things every DIYer needs to complete projects. Now most of these things I acquired separately because I did not see a use for some things until I started working on other projects. Trust me, you will thank me later when you are trying to upcycle a dresser into a tv stand!
1. Cordless drill
I personally don’t own one, simply for the fact that my neighbor gave me his to keep until he needs it for something. So far I have had it for a year and half! so until he says he needs it, I will not go out and buy one.
2. Hammer
When I first purchased a hammer, I felt like I was Superwoman! I was handling business!!! It was funny how all of a sudden, I needed to “hammer” everything.
3. Unnecessary amount of screws/nails
When you have “extra” screws from doing a project, SAVE THEM! You will learn that you will randomly need a screw or nail for some Pinterest project.
4. Staple gun
I do not own one as of yet because I have not had many projects that required one. But I will be purchasing one for an upcoming project. But staple guns are amazing!
5. Measuring tape
I never thought I would measure so many things! I ain’t even gonna lie, I was not really a fan of measuring things out for awhile. I was just “guestimating” and calling it a day. After a couple of wrong measurements, I realized it was time to pull out the tape.
6. Painter’s tape
Painter’s tape, or like I like to call it, BIG BLUE, will save your life! If you don’t believe me, try painting stripes on a wall. You will become a believer! I hate putting it up on the wall but I like the outcome of using it. People, USE the tape! It saves lives!
7. Paint brushes
I have so many paintbrushes everywhere! In the laundry room, my bedroom, living room, even in my purse! I know, it’s embarrassing! The reason I have so many brushes is that I’m kinda lazy when it comes to cleaning them. I would rather buy new ones than clean the ones I have. I know I should be saving money, but after I finish painting something, I don’t really want to clean the brushes.
8. Screw driver
Even though I mentioned the cordless drill earlier, there are just some basic things you need even with emerging technology. Technology will fail us one day, shoot it has already failed us! How many times has your iPhone glitched?? LOL So when it does fail you during a project, you can whip out your handy dandy screw driver. When doing projects, there are just somethings a cordless drill cannot do.
9. Sander
OMG!! I cannot tell you how much I am in love with my sander! Man my sander makes you wanna sand everything! It has really made projects so much easier! Once you use this, you will never sand by hand again!
10.Stud finder
Stud finders will save your life! Have you ever tried putting up a picture or a tv without a stud finder??? I have and it was a grueling process!!! How about we don’t do that again?! Stud finders saves you from all the trouble! Putting up pictures and tvs will now be a breeze with this.
So this is my list of things you should have on hand at any time during a project. Like I said it’s MY list so you might not need everything that I have listed. You just might need more!
