So my kitchen was pretty dull. The best thing about it was my all black new appliances. I had been on YouTube and Pinterest searching for ideas to add some personality to my kitchen. It took me months to finally come to a decision on what I wanted to do. Once I decided to execute my plans, it took me a few weeks to find time. Due to my taxing work schedule, it took me longer than it should to finish it. (Anybody want to employ me? I’m one class short of my MBA, almost there!) As you will see in the pics below, I decided to go with a dark, almost chocolate, wood stain and a faux granite counter top. I really wanted real granite top but the way my bank account is set up… you know the rest! Well I was extremely nervous because if I messed up, I’d feel really bad.
Some of the items I used:
- 3 bottles of acrylic paint (you can get them for like $.50 at walmart)
- Primer
- Enviro Tex
- Sponge (torn into pieces)

I decided to do something with black in it because my appliances are black in my kitchen. I noticed that in several tutorials, people used glitter to give it that reflective look once the Enviro-tex was applied. Well because I didn’t trust myself with evenly distributing the glitter, I purchased a black acrylic paint with glitter already in it. I liked it just as well.

Counters Primed!!!
Sorry, I forgot to take pictures for each coat of color.

I enjoyed working on this project! I get so many compliments on it. I think I did a pretty good job! *pats self on back* Tell me what you think.
