Airport observations

Soooo this morning, I realized I left my computer on the plane…last night. Due to this I am trying to steer my mind onto other things to keep from going crazy.

As I am trying to not think about leaving a $1700 computer on a plane (don’t judge me on how much I paid, it was worth it), I decided to people watch.

Here are some observations/notes/advice/whateverelseyouwantittobe…

1. Please act like you have traveled at least once in your life! Omg, the airport is not a sightseeing exhibit. Get to the gate! If you follow the signs, 9.975 times out of 10, you will actually make it to where you need to be. Asking people works too!

2. The bins go one way. If you actually pay attention, you will notice that they’ll either go vertical or horizontal. They cannot go both ways. That’s just tacky. If you really pay attention, the TSA agents will actually show you. If you are at the ATL or LAX airport, the machines do all the work. Just put your stuff in the bins and keep it moving. Stop trying to be creative. Be a follower!

3. Airport has better security than our schools. I’m just saying! I feel like I get a special “feel feel” every time in there. Today was beyond exceptional. They even question you to make sure you are “fit” to fly! My best question yet has been: Did you pick up a secret package? Like seriously?! If I did, would I tell you?! It’s a secret!!!! They legit called me over the airport intercom to come up to the counter for this. Then they did another search of me and my items…for the secret package! lol

4. Finish your John Brown water before you get to security. How many times do they have to remind you that you cannot take bottled water through TSA? Like they even send you a reminder when it’s time to check in. There are signs posts EVERYWHERE! This is why they taught us Hooked on Phonics! It was to prepare us for these moments. I do not want to wait behind you because you want to drink a full bottle of water instead of throwing it away. I see this happening way too much.

5. Pay attention!! That should be enough said but it isn’t. I am tired of tapping you on the shoulder for you to keep the line moving or having to say “excuse me” because you aren’t paying attention and are messing up the flow of traffic.

6. Stop skipping the lines! Bruh we all here and trying to make our flight. It’s cool if you ask, someone might be kind enough, but you CANNOT just skip! You should have got to the airport earlier.

7. Kindness gets you a long way, even when you are wrong. Short story: TSA agent wouldn’t let me take my empty container. It had a little residue of Shea butter in it. Like I could wipe it out with a napkin. He tells me the container is too big. Whatever. I wasn’t going to argue. I have traveled with this container for months, in and out the country, with more Shea butter in the container. It didn’t even get picked up by the scanner. But hey, he was nice about it, so I threw it away. It wasn’t worth the fight. Even though I wanted to prove my point, I’m no TSA agent. It was one of those “fallback” moments.

8. Unless you are flying Southwest, you do not need to rush onto the plane. Your seat is already assigned and waiting for you. You know what is cool? We actually all get there at the same time! SHOCKER!

9. If you are flying with a group, please try your best to not be the “ratchet” group. Especially if you are of “color”. I don’t need you yelling across me some “basic” conversation. I don’t need to be trying to sleep and you laughing all loud. I don’t need you getting an attitude with the flight attendant. I like her! She’s been really nice to me! She even gave me extra snacks! Fall back ninja, fall back!

10. Even if all else fails, don’t come to the airport with bae in ramen noodles matching t-shirts. It’s not cute. Especially when his belly makes the shirt look like it’s an actual cup of noodles.

There are more things that could be said, but I’m going to stop here. These are the ones that stick out to me and my friends over the course of travel this week.
