Father’s Day

Boy oh boy, I have the greatest dad in the world. I said what I said and no one can use what I said. Because it is Father’s day, I figured I’d dedicate a blog to him. Let’s just say I am the only girl. So I am about to reminisce on some of my life stories with my dad.

Senior year: I am applying for various schools. I get accepted to this one school in Texas. The funny thing is that for some reason he thought the school was in Tennessee. So all was good until graduation when he realized that the school was in Texas. Boy oh boy. That was a no go! He was not happy. lol Well needless to say, I ended up at Oakwood University.

Oakwood: Well well well, I know many people have their many stories about their HBCU experiences. Mine went pretty decent for the most part. To make a long story short, it was April of my last semester in college. Like end of April where you should be picking up cap and gowns. Well I got a letter telling me that I had not met the requirements for graduation. So I’m talking to my mom and we trying to figure out what I am going to do. The very next morning, like 6 am,  I get a phone call from my dad. He was like get up and meet me at the Records office at 8 am. I was like what?! Where are you?! He was like I was driving to work and decided that I wasn’t going to take this. So I turned around and I am on my way up there. I won’t go into all the details, but my super close friends know what went down. Needless to say, things got fixed, my dad went right back home and I graduated a few weeks later.

Commentator: OMG, sitting next to this man during any event is like watching sports with a commentator. It’s so bad now that sometimes I won’t sit with him and he’ll just text me his comments lol. Boy oh boy if I don’t respond! He gonna try to get my attention so that we can talk about what is going on. Sometimes I won’t even be at the event, and I will still get an up-to-the moment summary of what is gong on. The thing is that its not just what is going on, its his opinions of what is going on. That’s what makes its so interesting.

Ironing: Boy, I hate ironing. I’m that person that will not wear something because I have to iron it! It’s bad. But its bad because my dad used to iron all my clothes. It was amazing, I’d hear him in the morning (my room wasn’t to laundry room where we ironed) ironing, and I’d slip him my shirt for the day. Or, he’d asked if I needed anything ironed.

Cooking: Let’s just say, my mom has it good. I hope I have it good too. (HINT HINT) My dad is the cook of the house. When I lived in Alabama, anytime I would plan to come home, just know who I called first. I had to make sure there was food in the house. My dad would ask me for my menu and when I got home, BAM, the food was ready!!! My dad now will randomly text me asking me what I want to eat. It’s funny cuz my brother will text sometime when he is coming over and be like “did dad cook?”. That determines if he will come over or not.

These are just a few of many stories that I have of my dad. This is why my word stays strong! He is the greatest father ever. None of y’all daddy’s measure up to this! BAM! Yup I said it.
