Beauty is Pain

Beauty is Pain. Whoever came up with that phrase needs to exit stage left and take several seats, RIGHT NOW. I was thinking about this phrase as I was getting my hair braided the other day. As of today, I do not believe that phrase. blacksalonproblems-e1464356089644-640x454

I decided to get my hair braided because I will be doing a lot of traveling in the next couple of weeks for my 30th birthday. Well I decided to go to this African braiding shop because everyone raves about having the Africans braid your hair. They do an excellent job but I have one problem with them. They braid so tight!!!! So as I am sitting in the chair getting my hair braided, I wondered if this was really worth it? Like, I can’t imagine going through this pain every time I want my hair braided! I know so many people who only go to the Africans and I’m like well dang, they some troopers! They are stronger than me! If I keep this up, I will not have any hair left! She snatched every bit of hair that existed on my scalp!

99025237da6a01f843dcb2d37128d5d3I specifically remember as a kid, asking my mom could my friend’s mom braid my hair like hers. Of course she said yes. Well that ####### hurt so bad!! You know what she told me??? She was like, “Hold on Constance, Beauty is Pain!!!!” Let’s just say, that was the last time she braided my hair!!! lol

Anytime you have to take pain medicine after you get your hair done, is not cool! This was my first and last time getting my hair braided by the Africans. While they did a great job,  I cannot do this anymore! I really did not think I would have to take anything but just know, Ibuprofen has been on a constant rotation. I think that you should get a free bottle of pain medicine after getting your hair braided. It’s only fair!

This was ridiculous, it hurt to even smile! I was trying to laugh the other day and I had to hold my head because my scalp was trying to stretch as I was laughing!!!

I am DONE! Am I the only one who is over that “Beauty is Pain” stuff?! I am! I am getting too old for this!

Funny thing is, I am more than likely going to use that phrase if I have a daughter and she is crying while I do her hair. I am also probably going to buy trick candles for my kids birthday cakes.

Hey, these are just my thoughts for the day!
